Local Fire Relief

At around 1am PT on Dec 3, a fire broke out on the second floor of our historic building at 63/69 Bluxome Street in SF. Our lower floor brewery section of the building has fire monitoring which helped alert the SF Fire Department. The building was constructed in 1912 with a timber frame, so the fire, which apparently started toward the back of the building on the second floor, quickly escalated to a 2-alarm fire and ripped through the top floor -- getting so hot at the point of origination that the roof collapsed.

More than 70 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and it took approximately 2 hours to extinguish the fire. We're just so thankful that no one was onsite or injured, and grateful that the SF Fire Department jumped on this so that there wasn't more damage.

The fire and structural damage to the second floor and roof of our building is extensive and the water used to put out the fire has devastated the downstairs businesses, including Local and our neighboring business, Babylon Burning Screenprinters.

Most of our brewing equipment is fine, however, all beer in the brewery is lost, the water damage is extensive throughout our space, and, due to the current lack of structural integrity, the City has red-tagged the building -- meaning the power has been shut off and we're not able to enter or use the space in any capacity until it's been thoroughly investigated and repaired, which could be several months -- very possibly longer.

We'll be reaching out to our retailers and vendors in the coming weeks, as we'll be offline and unable to produce our brews.

Within all these kind messages, some have asked about ways to financially support Local and our team, so we set up a GoFundMe page here. We hope to also formulate a more tangible fundraiser when we have more information about the status/timeline of our building and our future on Bluxome St.

In the meantime, we'll post an update by Tuesday with a list of locations where you can nab up the last bit of Local beer for the year, and we’ll update our online store with some Local T-shirts that we were able to salvage.
