On March 17, 2020 the city of San Francisco shut down all “non essential” businesses throughout the city, due to the spread of the coronavirus(Covid-19) that has been impacting the lives of thousands of people throughout the nation. Unfortunately, our barbershop, and many other businesses, were listed in the non essential categories that must be shut down while we defeat the spread of this unforgiving virus. With complete understanding as to why this must be done, unfortunately, our industry is being severely impacted because our livelihood depends on our ability and opportunity to work. With both being restricted, our barbershop and barbers are not receiving any income to pay off our normal living/working expenses. As independent contractors we don’t have the luxury of being paid as an employer or even filing for unemployment during these harsh times

Being completely honest, as independent contractors, we normally wouldn’t look for handouts or donations. We would rather much hold ourselves with great pride, integrity, and be able to provide the services that we offer, but due to the scenario that we’re all in, we’re seeking for help. We’re seeking support. We’re seeking donations in order for us to stay afloat with our expenses. These funds will help us maintain until we can get back to the shop in functioning order and provide you the experience we had while we were once operating.

It genuinely saddens me to have to close the doors while this closure is being enforced. It almost feels hopeless while I personally can’t provide what I once promised to the team. But, as the owner of Locals Barbershop, I feel obligated to do whatever I can to provide to the individuals who are running their business in our establishment. Hence the reason for this GoFundMe relief fund.

I want to thank everyone for the love, support, and hopeful messages. They are deeply encouraging and allowing us to see the bright future that lies ahead for all of us. I’m not asking you to donate if you cannot, I simply ask if you have the opportunity to donate to us, Locals Barbershop, it would be greatly appreciated and will forever remain in our hearts and legacy that we want to create.

These donations will be contributing to the shops expenses, such as rent, utilities and other essential services that are and are not required to have in the city of San Francisco. These donations will also be contributing to the barber’s essential expenses such as rent, utilities and living expenses.
