Meet the Myers Family. Mom and dad are Jessica and Curtis. Their cute little kiddos are Amelia and Elijah. They are the sweetest family you'll ever meet. They recently moved from Greenwood to Placerville to the home of their dreams. Then their two year old son Elijah started having health issues. He got pneumonia, an ear infection and was suffering from what everyone thought were night terrors. After doing some blood tests the doctors diagnosed Elijah with Leukemia and have begun treating him with Chemotherapy. They are taking it day by day and are staying extremely positive. Elijah is hopefully going to be released from the hospital in a couple weeks so the family can all go home and continue to take him to his periodic Chemo appointments.
But, unfortunately Murphy's Law seems to have taken advantage of the situation. During the recent storms this winter, the ceiling in their new home has developed a few leaks. Before the doctors will release Elijah from the hospital to go home with his family, we need to have the leaks fixed and provide a clean report from a mold inspector showing that the air is safe for Elijah to breathe, due to the fact that his immune system is very fragile from the Leukemia and the Chemotherapy.
We are seeking funds to help with the burden of the roof repairs and mold inspection/remediation costs. At this point we are getting bids from roofers to fix the leaks and have had the mold inspector out to do some preliminary tests but we do not have not have a final cost nailed down. We anticipate the costs could be in the thousands of dollars. We will update the goal once we have the total cost for repairs, etc. but at this point we just want to get the ball rolling as time is of the essence and we don't want Elijah to be stuck in the hospital one day more than he has to. So I am setting the goal of $2,000 to help relieve the financial strain for this wonderful family and to hopefully get their home ready for their son to come home from the hospital.
