Local Panache Plumbing Legend fights cancer
My name is Helen, the little sister of Darren Gilvear.
He is a well known and well loved local man who has ran his own business for many years known to many as Panache Plumbing. He’s also an avid Bristol Rovers fan. Holding a season ticket for many years. Attending many away games. It was always done with his Dad.
In September 2020 Darrens world was turned upside down. He went to the GP with complaints of stomach pains where he was given a blood test. The results came back that he would need a colonoscopy in March of 2021.
After weeks of severe discomfort and continuing to fulfil his work load before Xmas fitting bathrooms, he booked himself in to A&E.
He was given the devastating news that he had bowel cancer. With the probability of it being in the liver and potentially the lung. He was sent home after some time in hospital with a plan to discuss treatment.
The cancer had other ideas and Darren has spent 3 of 4 weeks in hospital after having life saving surgery. He was then told he has severe cancer in the bowel, the liver, early stages in the lung and is spreading further into the digestive system.
Unable to work and spend time with his family of 4 daughters Lauren, Molly, Mia, Alice and fiancée Rachel.
He’s never been one to not work for a living, he’s always gone above and beyond for customers who have remained loyal to him and new customers based on recommendation. Always helping members of his family with his extreme talents.
He is currently at home now waiting to speak to consultants regarding a start in chemo hopefully in the new year.
He would never ask for help from others so I as his little sister I am asking for your help to give donations to support Darren during the toughest time of his life financially while he is unable to work because of this horrible disease. His fiancée has taken time off of work to care for Darren. Any donations, small or large, will be gratefully received and we as his family wouldn’t be able to thank you enough.
We have also raised money for Macmillan during this process as they support Darren and his family.
