Local mother and teacher needs help

Hello friends,

  Our names are Jared and Chad Friefeld and we are asking for your help on behalf of our mother, Terri Friefeld. We have lived in Moorpark, California for 25 years.  Our mom has taught in the school district for about 10 years.  She is a mother, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend and third grade teacher at Campus Canyon Elementary School in Moorpark.  She is also an Ovarian cancer survivor and a fighter. She has been battling ovarian cancer for as long as we can remember. She was first diagnosed in February of 2008. After beating it initially, she was cancer-free for 7 years. It re-emerged in January of 2015, and again in June of 2017, and has had a consistent battle since December of 2018. In 2016, Carmela Thorsen organized a YouCaring fund raising page to afford the cost of receiving an experimental treatment, which, unfortunately, was not effective. She is currently doing immunotherapy treatment that involves an infusion every three weeks and nightly chemo pills. Although, this is not as harsh as chemotherapy, it still takes a toll on her body.  She tires easily and she has had to have a blood transfusion for severe anemia.  All that being said, she looks healthy and tries to keep a positive outlook.

 
  Until now, she has had the ability to remain financially stable despite the diagnosis, however, her recent treatments have left her in a state in which she is too weak to teach, and, at the behest of her doctors, she won’t be able to teach for the rest of this school year and possibly stop teaching completely. The school district has done so much to help in previous years, but they’ve helped all that they can.   After the new year, she will lose her income, her healthcare, and possibly her home.

             
  We are writing this to ask for your help.  All we want is for our mother to be able to maintain as normal a life as she can while she continues her battle. Ovarian cancer has already taken so much from her, please help us help her. In July, disability will start, but this will still not be enough to maintain her life with the medical expenses that she will incur.  Anything you can provide will go such a long way to help bring more stability to her life so that she can keep fighting.

 
  The pandemic has made things harder, and we realize that our family is not the only one struggling. We appreciate any help anyone is kind enough to offer. No amount is too small.
