In October, our dear friend, Brad Vance was diagnosed with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoma of the skincalled Mycosis Fungoides. Although the disease presents on the skin, it is actually a non-contagious, blood cancer that is so rare that experts estimate there are only 3.6 cases per million people per year. Brad has stage 3 Mycosis Fungoides and experiences large painful tumors primarily on his face and head. Because the disease is so rare, treatment plans are often trial and error because there is so little research. Currently Brad is undergoing chemotherapy at Kaiser Woodland Hills and is vying to get into a Clinical Trial at UCLA, however, a team of experts at City of Hope Cancer Research Center have extensive experience in treating this unique cancer but the costs associated with out-of-network medical care at City of Hope are prohibitive for the family. Normally Mycosis Fungoides is a slow progressing cancer, but in Brad’s case, since his diagnosis in October, the facial tumors have grown at an alarming rate and as such currently inhibit his ability to see and eat. He remains, as always, a “cup half full” kind of guy with a terrific sense of humor and zeal for life, but the pain is taking a toll. Please help us in raising money for Brad so that his family can get him the specialty medical care he needs from City of Hope. We have set the fundraising goal at $5000 although the most urgent need is to pay for his first consultation at City of Hope (an initial consultation with the specialists is $1150). We appreciate any donation you can make! Thank you, in advance, for your support!
Due to the severe disfigurement of Brad's facial features (the tumors) we have opted to post pictures of Brad from a happier time.
