Local Masjid for the Muslims living in Eltham Uk

Asalamu alaykum brothers and sisters. We are raising money to put towards a local masjid for muslims living in Eltham, Greenwich in London.

I have been living in Eltham for the past 10 years and I have been travelling to the Lewisham masjid which takes me around 20-30 minutes by car/public transport. It is not convenient. When I found out that there was a jummah being held in a church hall near my house I went and Alhamdulillah I was happy to find my muslim brothers there. There was also a small space in the back for our sisters to pray behind us. But there is only a curtain which hides their privacy which is not good. We can improve this for us all to be more comfortable and pray in separate rooms. At the moment we are praying jummah in a community centre on Lionel Road that is hired by the hour which Alhamdulillah for now is better than nothing but only temporary. Not alot of muslims in the area know about this place and are travelling to lewisham and other areas. So hopefully this can also raise some awareness to the Muslims in the area so that they do not have to travel far.

We are currently looking for places to rent in sha Allah on a long term contract so we have a more permanent place to pray. In future in sha Allah we really would love to buy a place too. The masjid will prioritise teaching quran, a place for non muslims to come and learn islam, a place for us to pray Taraweeh in Ramadan, pray our 5 daily salah in jammat and much more in sha Allah.

We are currently waiting on two places to view and in sha Allah one of them could be ours. I hope we can raise as much money as possible to help pay the deposit for the masjid and to help out with the other costs to turn the place into our local masjid.

I pray we can all come together as an Ummah and help out with this cause and in sha Allah have a place we can call our masjid before Ramadan next year. May Allah reward you all for any contributions you make and please share this onto others who can help out. JazakAllahu khayr.
