Local Hero Saved by Son in law
On March 19 th at 1110 am Santino Campo Jr called me (meredith) into his room he had said he wasn’t feeling well and that he was going to faint so we sat on his bed on his side laying on his left side I tried to feel for his pulse but there was nothing there I couldn’t feel it which was odd because he was still talking to me ( little did I know he was in ventricular tachycardia at this time) he started to sweat so checked his temp and it was fine 98.4 so the sweat just worked stop so I propped his legs up with a pillow and ran to get a cool wet towel to drape around his neck when i returned he was unresponsive and falling off the bed ....
I started to scream and Brendan came running in checked for a pulse nothing checked his airway and he was not breathing so Brendan ( my husband and our hero) started chest compression he did 3 rounds of cpr and then he started to breath on his own... with Brendan’s fast reaction time saved my father.....
Dad was transport by Jamestown EMS to newport Hospital in the ER He again coded and then did cpr and some epi to bring him back..... he was the life packed you to Rhode Island Hospital where he is now waiting to have multiple surgeries
Statistics say people whom go into cardiac arrest in a hospital have a 25 percent chance of making it and only a 12 percent chance of surviving outside a hospital environment
