Please help our friend Gordon “Tag” Neil - whom most of you may recognize from his work with Betrix & Sons Electrics, serving local homes and businesses in the LBI/Manahawkin area.

On the morning of January 31st, 2023, Gordon “Tag” Neil was at work and felt ill. He was taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital via ambulance. Once there it was discovered that he had an aortic dissection, uncontrolled hypertension, kidney failure, and a blocked femoral iliac artery in his left leg. He was then transported by ambulance to Hackensack Meridian Hospital for emergency surgery to repair the aortic dissection. He also had surgery to repair the leg. While in surgery, his left leg artery blew out and he required 4 units of blood. It was so bad that the doctors considered amputation.

After the surgery, he suffered 2 strokes. He has short-term memory loss as well as weakened movement on his right side, upper and lower. He is going to need extensive physical and occupational therapy. He will not be able to work for a very long time.

Although Tag has health insurance, this will put a financial strain on the family as his wife, Jodi, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August of 2022 and has been undergoing chemotherapy and related treatments, scans, lab work, and other various tests.

Tag and Jodi met in 1985 when he was 18 years old, and she was 16 years old. They had their fairytale wedding in 1990. In 1997, their son TJ was born. They were so happy to have a son. Tag is a great husband, supporting his wife while she is going through her cancer treatments, he is there for her always, no questions asked. He is a great father to TJ, supporting him in everything he does. He is enormously proud to be TJ’s dad.

Tag is also a great friend. He would do anything for anyone at any time. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He has the most amazing, quirky sense of humor. Tag says some of the funniest things! He makes everyone laugh! He is loved by everyone who knows him.

With this happening to Tag and him not being able to work for quite a while, as well as his wife Jodi undergoing cancer treatments, this will put a lot of stress on both of them.
