Career Fishermen's Boats Destroyed by Arson

Donation protected
John Clarke and Errol “Jimmy” Lindsay have been commercial fishermen on Lake Cootharaba at Boreen Point for over 55 years.

They both grew up in the area and have been fishing side by side and feeding the locals since the 1960’s.

In the early hours of Saturday 22nd June, John and his wife Margaret were woken by a knock on the door from the police alerting them to the deliberately lit fires that were engulfing John and Jimmy’s fishing boats which were moored on the lake, just 60m apart.

Unfortunately due to excessive insurance costs the boats, nets, motors etc were not insured and the fishermen are estimated to be out of pocket approximately $20,000 each.  The sooner the two men can raise these funds, the sooner they will be back on the lake, earning an income.

Any amount that you are able to give would be greatly appreciated by John and Jimmy and will go directly to helping rebuild these local small businesses.
