Hi, my name is Karen Fothergill (Harvell), sister of Shelton Harvell Jr. and I am fundraising for my brother Shelton.

Many of you may know my brother Shelton from the commercial fishing community, but maybe you haven't heard about the tragedy that recently happened.

Tragically, on January 19th, 2024 my brother was involved in a freak accident where he was pinned between his garage and his vehicle. His injuries are extreme as his entire pelvis was crushed. He is now mobile only by wheelchair. His healing time is expected to take a year or longer.

Following suit of our grandfather, father, and countless uncles, Shelton has been a commercial fisherman for his entire adult life. In 2020, his dream of becoming part owner and operator of the Jean Marie finally became a reality.

Commercial Fishing is Shelton's passion, his calling, his livelihood, there is no plan B. I've started this fundraiser to help him and his wife pay for the mounding medical expenses, routine monthly bills and other financial obligations so he can focus on recovering from his injuries. Due to the severity of his injuries Shelton will be unable to work for many months to come.
