Local family in need of community's help

Donation protected
Hi, our names are Brittnee and Brettnee. Our mother is Priscilla Odum. We would like to start with a little backstory about our family. Our parents, Priscilla (Strang) and Tim Odum, were raised here in Rushville, Indiana. They have resided in the same house since 1992, where they raised us girls. You would recognize Tim and Priscilla from our local Pizza King, where they have put in 20+ years. Tim currently works there. The community has been a huge part of their lives by supporting our local Pizza King.

Priscilla has suffered from many health issues during her life but as of October 2022, her liver has begun to fail causing her to be bedridden. Her failing liver is due to non-alcoholic cirrhosis. Due to pride, we had decided to keep these issues hidden from the public and try to deal with them personally and alongside her doctors. Our father, Tim, has lost a tremendous amount of finances due to caregiving for our ill mother. February 2023, we were informed that our mother is in end-stage liver disease, meaning she only has a few months to live with her current condition. She has now been placed on a liver transplant list. We are waiting to hear about whether family can donate part of their liver or if she can receive one from a cadaver. We have experienced a whirlwind of emotions in the past 6 months and during this time, we were informed that our parent's home is now in foreclosure. We are ready to share our story and ask for help. No more suffering in silence. Her lifelong friends and family deserve to know what is going on. We are asking for any sort of donation, whether it be $1, or ideas on shared resources. We are currently working on a future plan for my dad to be my mother's caregiver through Lifestream services, but this plan will only help with future care and finances. So we are asking for your help in the meantime. For any questions, information, or shared resources, call or text Brettnee or Brittnee.

Update 4-4: mom is currently in the hospital(since March 30) due to internal bleeding which has been controlled. Her kidneys aren't functioning very well. She doesn't feel well at all but she hasn't lost the will to live. Pretty confused, but still mostly coherent. On antibiotics for a few infections.

Update 4-5:
Mom has been transported to St Francis from MHP Shelbyville in hopes of making her more comfortable and having quicker access to blood if she needs more. She received 2 bags today which seemed to help her be more coherent. She is in a lot of pain from her abdominal issues and from being bedridden for so long. Please continue to pray, send good vibes, whatever you believe in, send it. Thank you all so much! You don't know what this means to us. ❤

Update 4-7:
Mom was awake for most of the day and very coherent. She could sit on the side of her bed for PT but still unable to walk. Lower lobe of her left lung is collapsed but we are doing breathing exercises to work on it. They took her off of oxygen and her IV blood pressure meds as she could take them orally today, but her blood pressure still wasn't high enough, so they ended up putting the IV meds back on. Please continue to hope, pray, send good vibes, and thank you for all who have. Today was a good day overall.

Update 4-11:
So we just found out within the last couple of days, that this situation mom is in is septic shock. I'm not sure why that wasn't explained to us. From this, she is unable to walk and wasn't able to feed herself until today. It's still difficult for her but she has a little more control over her movements. She was able to stand today for PT. There is talk of a rehab center after being discharged from the hospital but we are unsure of when this will be. It depends on how much progress mom can make in the coming days/weeks. She has lost a tremendous amount of muscle mass so she has to work on building her strength back up. Thank you all for your continued prayers! Please join us between 4-9 at Rushville Dairy Queen on Thursday April 13th for a fundraiser to help mom and dad keep their home and for her family to travel back and forth to be with her. Also, my dad is not working as he is spending all of his time with my mom. Any little bit counts. Thank you all, again. We will get through this though time.

Update 4-14:
Mom has been moved to the Morristown Manor rehab facility in hopes of gaining some strength and having more stimulation. I am unsure of how long she will be here. She is medically stable but we were told that she will likely not improve. Currently she isn't strong/healthy enough to tolerate a transplant. Thank you all soooooo much for your continued support and prayers!❤ We will be forever grateful!

Update 4-17:
We are bringing mom home on Hospice care. She is no longer strong enough to tolerate a transplant and the transplant is the only thing that would have fixed her major problem(one of many). Dad is still not working and will not be anytime soon. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers and positivity.

Update 4-19:
Mom will be coming home Friday on Hospice care. We want to make her as comfortable as possible. No more suffering with constant pain.

Update 4-21:
Mom will be coming home today on Hospice. She was supposed to have her final paracentesis (fluid drainage from her stomach) but we are concerned that her body won't tolerate another one. She no longer eats or drinks. She's unresponsive to questions, doesn't even shake her head yes or no anymore. She is on her final days. Please pray for her and her families comfort. Thank you all for your continued support.

Update 4-24:
Mom passed away peacefully at home Saturday evening surrounded by her family.

Update 5-10:
We have saved the house! The mortgage has been reinstated! We couldn't have done this without you all! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You will never truly know what this means to us. There is a benefit on June 17th at the Eagles in Rushville. All proceeds will go to debts that have been accrued during Priscilla's illness. We want to thank you all again!

Update 5-22:
It has been exactly a month since Mom has passed. Today, we were informed that her life insurance has not been active long enough to pay for anything. Had we known this, we would have had other plans made. We are asking again, for any help we can get, whether it be shared resources or $1. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
