My family has been displaced from apartment fire

Aloha, my name is Aimee Davis. Last night my mom and sister‘s apartment caught fire in Napili, Maui. It was an electrical fire and it started in the walls and end up coming through my sister Vanessa’s room. Luckily my mom was able to locate the fire and their downstairs neighbor helped until the fire department arrived.

We were able to salvage some of their belongings, but there is major smoke damage so everything has to be moved out and they have to relocate. Their apartment complex is not helping them relocate at all, or helping with any reimbursement to their belongings, helping pay for everything that was lost and the things that need to be taken to the laundry mat to clean from the smoke. We also lost all their food in the fridge due to the power being cut off. Vanessa also lost the majority of her jewelry making equipment and all her pearls for her business and she lost her bed and clothing.

This has been a devastating situation and we’re just trying to figure it all out. Thank God everyone was physically ok and no one was harmed and that the fire didn’t spread throughout the entire building. We’re so grateful for all the neighbors that helped throughout the evening, Red Cross Hawaii for their help, and a big Mahalo to Maui Fire Department.
