OUR PLANET : AFRICAN BIODIVERSITY NEEDS OUR HELP
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Sally and I'm inviting you to join me and a growing wave of decent people, from all walks of life, who are eagerly and actively making a crucial effort to reverse some of the havoc & destruction our species has caused over the last c.150 years. I stand with those putting the restoration & protection of ecosystems & biodiversity, on our planet, FIRST. We are fast losing it and, without it, what actually is there for us??
We that can, need to restore & protect ecosystems and biodiversity, for ourselves, for those that can't, and even for and in spite of those that won't!!!
So I'm asking you to help me do that as MORE MUST BE DONE, & TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!❤️
I live in Spain and at 65, together, with my newly acquired Landy 300 Tdi 'Hari' (short for The Kalahari Snail and currently in Pretoria South Africa), as 'SallysWheels', will be overlanding as many sub Saharan African countries as we can over the next 1-2 years, visiting conservation organizations, NGO's and charities, shadowing their work, & recording and publicizing our time with them & our adventures on SallysWheels social media. Our adventure will begin earnest beginning of September '24.
MISSION: To further raise awareness and funds for some very important, and often forgotten, initiatives that desperately need our help.
So please, follow my social media and support me by sharing my story and contributing if you can! Just €1.00 from enough people will make a difference - it really takes no longer than 10 minutes!
Africa’s wildlife and natural ecosystems are facing an unprecedented crisis. Wildlife crime such as poaching, poisoning, snaring, and habitat destruction are not just threats to animals but to the entire balance of life on our planet. In war animals are more likely to be poached for meat and reward and, in both war and peace, they get slaughtered for personal gain by organized crime who threaten those they recruit, often suffering from poverty, with worse outcomes if they don't comply!
Conservation organizations and NGOs, large and small, are working tirelessly to counter wildlife crime, restore ecosystems, protect and re-wild endangered animals and educate local communities on coexistence (wild animals are a threat to farm animals and therefore their livelihoods), to restore this balance. The task is complex, requiring a mix of professionals including but not limited to conservationists, ecologists, vets, scientists, biologists, wildlife rangers & non professionals alike. This work is a critical necessity if we are to make any headway in the restoration of African biodiversity & those involved NEED MUCH MORE HELP.
During our travels, we will do our best to, and with your help, raise awareness and support for these essential efforts, as below:
- Ecosystem restoration, crucial to restoring natural habitats, rewilding animals, as well as creating employment
- Combating poaching and wildlife crime to conserve Africa’s diverse wildlife
- Education of local communities to coexist peacefully with the animals that share their land.
- Empowerment of women to lead these initiatives. This is key, as they are the ones that will make sustainable changes.
These initiatives are vital to preserving our planet’s biodiversity, and funds are desperately needed as some of these NGO's are small and without the support of large corporate benefactors. Your help will not only protect endangered species, but also uplift those communities and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Anyone that has been to Africa and experienced its biodiversity, will surely want their children and their children's children to have the same opportunity!
If every person that reads this Fundraiser could see their way to donating even as little as 1€, following my social media and sharing with even just 5 others, I'm sure we can make a difference over time. Every time the pot reaches between €300 & €500, I will donate it to a given organization/project. If you have a preference to what your funds are used for, please say when you donate and I will do my best to honor your wishes. In any case, I will always advise where I've sent them and what they'll be used for.
Again, please join us in this critical effort to safeguard Africa’s biodiversity and empower those who are leading the charge.
