Local artist Michelle Jahraus needs our support

My name is Andria Bufka and I've known Michelle Jahraus and Doug Hart since 2012. They have been part of the heart of the Cedar business community with their art gallery and nautical antiques business for many years. Michelle is a 5th generation Leelanau resident, and a local artist that has been in art shows around TC and Leelanau for decades.

They've had to leave their gallery in Cedar as Michelle has been diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia, which is the most rapidly progressing form of dementia. Michelle cannot take care of herself anymore and Doug cares for Michelle 24/7 at their home.

Doug has been unable to work for several months as he manages all aspects of Michelle's care and their day-to-day lives. With the help of friends and family, Doug has moved the art gallery and his nautical business to a studio space at their home. Doug is resolved to keep Michelle at home and care for her himself, but that comes with an emotional and financial burden on him. I approached him about starting this GoFundMe so that he wouldn't have to think about the financial side for a bit.

Michelle and Doug have always been so kind and welcoming, I really wanted to find a way to help support them. Doug was hesitant at first, but I told him if people were aware of their struggles they might be able to help by donating, or saying prayers for them. Any amount will help if you're able to donate, and if not that's OK - just keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
