MF Animal Control Officer & mother of two in Need!

Donation protected

Jacey Ferguson Phillips and I met years ago during her first stint as the Marble
Falls Animal Control Officer.

This is Jacey’s Smile:

How Did Our Paths Cross

I’ll never forget the call, she said, “Freda,
I’d like your help with a dog, can you
come by the shelter today?”  I said, “sure but it will have to be after I teach my
water aerobics class and I’ll still be in my bathing suit and cover up.”  She said,
“that’s perfect!”

At the shelter I found her in the fenced
play yard with Shadow the saddest,
emaciated, mange, flea and tick ridden
dog I’ve ever seen in my 20+ years of
rescue.

This was Shadow:

I asked, “What’s his story?”  She said, “I don’t know whether we can save him but I found him cowering under a bush at the middle school.  He had the saddest eyes
yet the friendliest disposition and
figured he deserves a second chance.”

It took 4-5 baths before we started
seeing success!  The relief on Shadow’s
face as each flea succumbed to the
power of dawn dish soap and water was great!

You might be wondering where Jacey
was during all these baths?  She was on
duty, in uniform and holding the water
hose.

I‘d always told her to call me if she
needed anything so this day she took me up on my offer.

She had me at “dog!”

Life of a “Animal Control Officer:

As an ACO you see many heart
wrenching and devastating things that
would normally and easily harden the
human soul.  Sometimes to a point of
forced compassion.

Jacey could have just written this dog off and went on to the next call but the fact
she didn’t is what makes her so special!

This is just one story, of which there are
many!

Her one ultimate goal was to increase
the save rate of shelter animals in the
City of Marble Falls facility.

Success!  The save rate is at 90%!

She’s accomplished this by creating and
building relationships with local and
surrounding non-profit rescues!

My husband and I being two of those relationships.

Community is Important to Her!

She’s also served our community in her
previous role as the scheduler and lead
vet tech at PetPALS, our local low cost
spay, neuter and shot clinics.

Jacey grew up in here, graduated from
Marble Falls High School, is an avid
animal lover, mother of two small
children, great friend, giving person and
indeed a community advocate!

Her need is Dire!
Here’s why!

On July 15th she was traveling to the
hospital to have diagnostic testing
performed regarding her back,  when her truck crossed traffic and ended up in a
ditch rolling twice.

Her injuries are many but the worst are
skull fractures, a broken nose, 4 broken
ribs and the debilitating headaches as a
result.  She’s had additional diagnostics
the results are a Post Concussive
Syndrome and will require
approximately 2-3 months of bed rest to resolve!

This is Jacey Now:

What’s the Delimma:

She was placed on short term disability
initially for her back but due to the
accident the company is waiting for the
insurance coverage to come through
before the disability benefits start to be paid.

The hospital has already sent her a bill
for her portion which sits at $31,500 due to non coverage because she has a
deductibles of $7000.

Any  amount raised, will go towards
these deductibles, medical co-pays and
living expenses (mortgage, utilities, food) to see her through this hardship!

First Medical Bill:

In the meantime, she’s been out of work
for 4 weeks with no compensation,
doesn’t have a vehicle and no way to
replace it until other factors are settled
and she goes back to work.

Her Recently Purchased Family Home:

At Risk!

Light at the End of the Tunnel:

This fundraiser is meant to see her
through until insurance coverage kicks in and she can recover and return to full
time work & pay!

Family & Community:

Her Kiddos:

This family is so beautiful and so strong,
they just need a little compassion.  We
can unite our community and show this
family the love of God by helping them
with their present and planning for their futures.

No matter what it is, if you feel the call,
they need you and we want you with us!!All of you!!!

ALL MONEY MATTERS!

Any amount will help, when zero is
the beginning!

We all know how difficult it is to ask for
help, let’s rise to the occasion for one of
our own!

PLEASE SHARE!

This enables us to reach as many people as possible!
