Local 332 brother Greg Roberts needs some help

Local 332 brother Greg Roberts is going through rough patch. When he was a first year apprentice about 20 years ago, he was in a scissor lift that hit a void in some concrete and it fell over, crushing his foot and breaking his back. He's dealt with back issues ever since then, but his latest job involved running a lot of large rigid conduit and now his back's so bad he's incapacitated. He's been out since the end of the week before last. He can barely walk even with a walker. He's in real agony. It's shocking to see someone younger than I am to barely be able to walk even with a walker and suffer the whole time. He's got to have surgery and will be out of work for three or four months. He's bed ridden is the cold hard truth.
Dude is a good brother and a damn fine wireman. I worked side by side on our tools with him and then for him when he was a foreman. He treats travelers well and looks out for his men on the job.
I've never done this go fund me stuff before, and I didn't know for sure what to put as the goal. I just put up a number I pulled out of thin air, but I have no expectations of reaching that number. Basically, anything helps. Greg didn't ask me to do this, I just thought I'd give it a shot. Can't hurt, you know.
I myself am out of 995 in Baton Rouge and have been here in the Bay Area working off and on since June of 2016. Please feel free to contact me if you think this is a scam of some sort and I'll do my best to alleviate that concern.
