Hi, I am Megan Lanfair I am fundraising for my sister Hanna and brother-in-law Obie Lnenicka. They recently had a baby girl on November 15th 2022 and welcomed baby Oretta. Hanna had a smooth delivery but the day after the baby fell very sick and was rushed to the Emergency Room. She is unable to breathe on her own and must be on oxygen at all times. She was at first diagnosed with Double Pneumonia and Pulmonary Hypertension. Baby Oretta has spent the past 7 weeks in the NICU. The doctors are pretty sure (not confirmed ) she has some version of Interstitial Lung Disease or Diffused Lung Disease. This appears to be a congenital disease which is pretty rare. They suspect that she never had pneumonia but rather this ILD or DLD.
We don’t know exactly at this point but we know it’s serious. It sounds like theres not a flat out cure but there’s ways you can treat it. For some it can be a lifelong thing or lead to a lung transplant. She was recently flown to Seattle Children’s Hospital in hopes to have more invasive testing done to better diagnose her.
Oretta has a big sister named Savannah who is 3 years old and staying with mom and dad too. Oretta’s hospital is 4 hours away from their home in Richland so Hanna, Obie and Savannah had to pack up and find temporary housing near Oretta.
I am asking for donations to help get them into temporary housing, for gas and food expenses. Obie is unable to work right now. They do have insurance for the baby which is a blessing but it gets very expensive when it comes to their new day to day life. The doctor’s have told them to prepare for a lengthy stay of at least a few months.
