Landstown Middle School World Travelers Scholarship

I want my students to touch history and the world around them. I want them to stand on the beaches of Normandy, taste the chocolate from a cocoa plantation or meet with foreign students in another country. If they can do that, they are much more likely to bring that experience back with them and hold on to it for the rest of their lives!
I have watched international travel change the lives of our students for the last five years. I have traveled with over 600 people to Rome, London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Madrid, Costa Rica, Belize, Dublin and a few others. Next year we are going to Rome and Athens to learn about mythology, Arts, Philosophy and the birth of civilization from two of the most iconic cities in the world!!
In that time, our students have planted trees in Costa Rican Rainforest, watched the Hari Krishnas dance in a parade in London, toured Dachau, eaten snails and toured the Louvre in Paris, visited churches that were 10,000 years old, walked across Abbey Road outside of London “Beatles style”, seen schools that have no floors, castles built with money that essentially bankrupted a country, traveled on planes, trains, double decker busses, giant ferry boats and river cruise boats. We have had adults fall in love and get engaged on tour. We have seen long lasting friendships develop because our students shared a common experience as simple as waiting in line in the Amsterdam airport, having a monkey steal their lunch Costa Rica or hanging out in the Atlanta airport with everyone looking for a lost passport. (It was found!) I could go on and on with experiences that our students have had.
In short, I have watched the experience of educational travel change student's lives!

(The picture above is of some of our LMS World Travelers getting ready to fly to Germany.)
With that in mind, I am creating the LMS Travelers Scholarship Fund. The goal of this fund is to provide an all expenses paid trip, including passport costs, some spending money and the cost of the trip to a low income student.
I want to give a student an opportunity of a lifetime with the hopes that it will expand his/her world and let them experience things that forever change their view of the world and the possibilities it contains.
I want some of our lower income students to see a bigger world than they ever thought existed!
The recipient of this award will have the following qualifications:
1 – GPA of 2.0 or better
2 – No disciplinary infractions for the year leading up to the trip.
3 – Have a measurable need for financial assistance.
4 – Fill out an application for the scholarship signed by the student and his/her parent.
This is where I need your help. Please consider making a small donation to the Landstown Middle School World Travelers Go Fund Me account. Even 5 or 10 dollars will help!
My goal is the have enough money to bring a student to Belize with us in 2022.
Thank you for your attention and for helping to change the life of one or more of my students.
