Hello & Thank You for reading my story
My name is L’Mika and I am a Sophomore attending Clark-Atlanta University (CAU), majoring in Psychology – Pre Med, a field that I'm truly passionate about.
I believe the foundation of success begins with hard work and sacrifice and the fruit of my academic pursuits have been Honor Roll and Dean’s List. I also hold an office and an active member with on-campus clubs and participate in community-organizing activities and am proud to be attending one of the best HBCU's in Atlanta, GA.
My passion for psychology is deeply rooted in my interest in sociology, epistemology and the understanding of human happiness. I recently applied and was accepted as an "Atlantis Project Fellow" and seeking your much needed support to attend a 3-week medical internship this June in Portugal.
The Atlantis Fellowship Project is a premier study abroad program for pre-med students (https://www.atlantis-project.org/) and:
a) The core experience is spent at a global hospital shadowing doctors and exposing students to the inner-workings of various medical fields.
b) Atlantis Fellowships are in developed countries where hospitals and healthcare practice standards are comparable to those of the United States.
c) Alongside the clinical experience, the Atlantis Project offers its Fellows the opportunity to obtain a globalized perspective of medicine, allowing one to deepen their understanding of healthcare through a global lens.
My time in Portugal will also afford me the chance to teach English to others and the entire 3-week experience could make me a more competitive applicant for medical school, as well as a better physician one day.
I have some funds saved but cannot afford the entire program cost on my own and would be deeply grateful if you would consider making a contribution in any amount toward helping me meet my goal. Please know that every penny counts towards what I know will be a magnificent educational and enriching experience hosted by the Atlantis Project.
THANK YOU in advance for your encouragement and support and below are helpful links if you would like to know more information about the Atlantis Project and Lisbon, Portugal.
