Captain Brian Lloyd and his crew were aboard Lloyd’s F/V Charlotte Marie about 40 miles East of Mayport on Friday evening (July 7) when Brian was severely injured by a propane explosion. He suffered 3rd degree burns to his stomach, right leg, foot, arm and left ear, and 2nd degree burns to the majority of his body. He was airlifted by the U.S. Coast Guard to UF Shands in Gainesville where he will undergo the first of many surgeries. Brian is expected to be at Shands for a few weeks and should make a full recovery in approximately 2-3 months.
Safe Harbor Seafood and locals in the commercial fishing industry family of Mayport have set up a bank account for Brian. Funds will go directly to his wife Shannon and children-Dylan (18), Jackson (16), and Autumn (8 months). Now is the time to come together and show the Lloyd family some love. Even just a $1.00 AND a SHARE on Facebook would make a tremendous difference for peace of mind knowing they can stay financially afloat for the time being. I can tell you that the whole Lloyd family are extremely hard workers and give back to their community.
Safe Harbor Seafood owners, Gerald and Becky Pack and Safe Harbor Restaurant owners, Chris and Deanna Wooten will be having a fundraiser for Brian and his family in the near future and will be asking for donations to be auctioned. I would like to ask that anyone willing to donate anything including their time and talents to please contact J.D. Motes (Brian’s uncle), Celeste Kinsey Dyal or Lori Michele
for any and all help with the fundraiser.
