Lloyd Strong!

My name is Breanna Black. My Dad, Lloyd Koenig suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke on August 16th, 2021. The day started out normal. He left the house to go to the gym before work. My Mom, Vicky Koenig was also headed to the gym right behind him. My sister, Katie Koenig happened to drive by the gym and see our Dad's work van in front and also the ambulance. She immediately stopped and saw it was for our Dad. She came to our parents and let our Mom know and they followed to the St. Cloud ER. I let my husband know and he came home from work to be with our 2 sons so I could get up to the hospital. Katie greeted me when I got to the ER and said the doctor informed her that things didn't look good. He has bleeding in his brain and all of the family needed to be there as soon as possible. The chances of him surviving this kind of stroke were slim and we needed a miracle. Well! A miracle happened and the bleeding stopped! However as we approach these first 48 hours, the main focus is to make sure no more strokes occur. So far, so good. Dad has little to no movement in his whole left side. He cannot walk.. he cannot move his left arm but can wiggle his toes on his left foot. He has difficulty keeping his eyes open. He can talk, but does have slurred speech as expected. We have hope that his time on earth is not over!

Our mom works at the school and doesn't start until September, so the main bread winner for their bills and necessities is our Dad. He will be in extensive rehab for 3 weeks very soon. The recovery depends a lot on the determination of the patient and he is determined!

He drives for his work and will no longer be able to continue doing that. Funds to pay medical bills that aren't covered by insurance and regular bills such as house payment, insurance, gas and electric bills will be overwhelming without him being able to work to have continuous funds brought in. I am doing my best to try to ease that on both Lloyd and Vicky. Its not easy to be here asking for help. Lloyd's faith is very strong and trusts in Jesus with all he has!

We aren't sure if he will be able to return to work again. We are trusting God in all of this and really trying not to question the "why's" or "what if's". We are focusing on his recovery and how strong of a man he is! He is the best at providing for his family and being the rock that can be leaned on. I will update as more information comes in.
