Lloyd "Kemist" Mitchell
Donation protected
My father Lloyd Mitchell is a man loved and known by many for his big heart, open ears, and his range of help, support and work in the community and a dedicated life of youth work, even into recent years despite health issues. He contributed many of these years to working for the Prince's trust, even being honoured to meet the late Queen Elizabeth and current King Charles. He worked many years at the Deptford Albany from the day it was first opened (to the point people wondered if he owned the place!) and most recently he gave years to doing much-needed youth work at the YMCA in Woolwich as well as endless community events such as Lewisham People's day, First Love community radio station, and endless other music projects.
On June 12th 2023 my father Lloyd unfortunately was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Critical Care as a result of what was eventually recognised as a stroke (although it wasn’t diagnosed until weeks after admission) and shortly after admission the following day he suffered a Cardiac Arrest whilst under sedation. Since then was left hospital-admitted, fighting for recovery despite his major brain damage further complicated by unstable blood pressure, heart instability and renal failure. We even campaigned long and hard to get him back on to dialysis to give his brain some more time to recover.
However, it is with immense sadness I announce that our Dad Lloyd Edward Mitchell passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Almost a week after we successfully rallied to get him back on to dialysis, Doctors decided he should be taken back off, as unfortunately, his body began reacting adversely with his heart becoming dangerously unstable.
Within this time he had to receive an emergency transfusion for low Haemoglobin as well as antibiotics due to a new infection, so they ultimately decided although his brain was now progressing his body wasn't able to handle the dialysis again as before.
I know this comes as a sudden shock for many as were all hoping for a full recovery especially since being allowed to finally restart dialysis, but sadly it was too late as it seems his body had already started shutting down by that point.
Dad went to rest peacefully with his ancestors at around 3:40 AM Sunday 6th August 2023
At this time the family would like to extend a request for support to all friends, family, loved ones and those impacted by the loving and charitable life of our father Lloyd, a life based on truth, generosity and justice to everyone, to help give him the send-off he deserves. Any donation possible is both helpful and appreciated in supporting us to do this.
I also want to thank everyone for helping take on his fight as he fought for much longer than many believed he could, and we thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. Your support is much appreciated.
Love His sons Kayah, Javan and all Family.
