Llantrisant Dialysis Unit Patient Fund

There is no better person to explain why this fundraiser is so important than a patient who will benefit and why we are raising money... "It’s sad that Renal patients (including myself) can’t wait to escape their Dialysis treatment to get home. And to escape home they only go to Dialysis! Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality of being a renal patient. We will always be tied to our unit and the only way to escape it would be to receive a transplant or to (not to tip toe around it) die! For me, one of the hardest parts of being a kidney patient is saying goodbye to someone that you’ve spoken to every other day for years, then suddenly they are gone. Either having a transplant or passing away. It would be absolutely amazing if we could get all the patients out on a day trip with the support of our nurses to increase the morale and mental health of everyone that is well enough to go. So to raise money for the Patient Fund, Llantrisant Staff and some patients are going to do a sponsored walk on Sunday 4th June to the top of Pen y Fan and I’m asking all my family, friends and anyone else willing to support us on our adventure. The Patient Fund was set up by our wonderful Nurses at our unit to help provide money for all special occasions like birthdays, Easter and Christmas celebrations that are a welcome distraction from the harsh treatment that is Dialysis.
