Llangatwg’s Walk for Freya
Donation protected
Llangatwg Children’s Team are raising money for the Freya Bevan Fund.
We will be walking 200,000 steps during the month of March (which will be a tough challenge for some who are barely hitting 2k a day currently)
Beautiful Freya has already beaten a tumour in her young life. Sadly before Christmas they discovered a tumour and she under went surgery to have this removed. Last week they travelled to America for further treatment
Unfortunately Freya has been taken poorly since they arrived in San Diego with terrible headaches and vomiting, so Dr Chang thought it be best to do an MRI yesterday, and the results were devastating.
Freya’s tumour has grown back already and is spreading fast, that is why she had the headaches. As you can imagine her family are destroyed with this news.
She cannot have Proton-Beam Radiation now as the tumour is too big, but Dr Chang doesn’t give up hope just yet, and feels Freya can have Photon Radiation to blast the tumour and try to stop any more progression, and she will also have oral chemotherapy alongside the radiation to maximise the affects of it. Dr Chang is also looking into any clinical trials that Freya may be eligible for that are not available in the UK. We have to keep fighting for this beautiful special girl, and until Dr Chang says no more, then we will.
Sadly, all this treatment comes at a cost and the price has gone over all that they budgeted for, as Freya now has to have general anaesthetic everyday for radiation now, as she was traumatised when having a fitting for the mask and they are not putting her through that, she has been through so much already in the last week.
. Freya is feeling a bit better and has her pain controlled with medication. She is being looked after so well in San Diego, and will receive the best care possible.
