Hi, my name is Randy Ping.
Twenty years ago, I was working at a bar when a young lady asked me to walk her to her car because a group of guys were acting like creeps. She neglected to tell me that she had parked blocks away from the bar, but I figured that they would assume that we were together and leave it alone.
I was wrong.
To make a long story short; She got away, I didn't.
They broke six of my teeth, ruptured two of the discs in my mid back, caused a third disc to become bulged, severely damaged one of the vertebrae. I was stomped from head to toe, receiving micro fractures from to my skull, spine, hands and hip.
Over time, I developed bone spurs, dozens of them, along my back that are cutting into the soft tissues of my spinal cord. and arthritis in my back, my hands, my jaw. But I pushed through and kept working.
I was lucky enough to find a career as a tour guide here in New Orleans, but after years of steady decline and increasing levels of pain, I am at a point where I am not working.
I wish that I could have gone on giving tours forever, it was my passion. The reality I have to accept is that I can't do it anymore, and that's just how it goes.
But if I had that night to do over again, I would still have walked that girl to her car. I don't want to think about what would have happened to her if I had not.
That is why I have this Go Fund Me. I am not going to be able to work, but I can't wait 1-3 years while waiting for SSD. I can meet the very basic needs of rent, bills, food and medicine for the time it takes to get Disability payment. It won't be much of a life, but it will be ok. So, if you can, please donate a dollar or so. I just want to get by until I go through the process yet again, jump through all of the insane hoops and wait for the day when I get the benefits.
Thank you for reading all this.
