As many of you may know, Ljubica was diagnosed with Lymphoma on January 23, 2019. She fought very hard and good news came to us in June when she was cancer free. Unfortunately, four weeks later it was determined that her cancer came back with a vengeance. She has been under-going treatment since August. She started a different type of chemo than previously before. This chemo took a toll on her physically and mentally. But then more good news came around. She was referred to The James Cancer Center in Columbus where they determined she is a candidate for a stem cell transplant! This treatment can be life saving for Ljubica. If she were to stay on the chemo treatment she is currently on, there is an 80% chance the Lymphoma will return. However, with this new stem cell treatment, there is only a 30% chance that the cancer will come back.
This journey has been anything but easy for her and her family. It has been an emotional roller coaster and physically demanding. This treatment could be her chance to have her normal life back. But, this treatment is expensive, especially since she will be far from home. She will have to stay six weeks in Columbus for her treatment to work. As you can imagine this will take a toll on the family financially. Our goal is $11,500 to cover the cost of her treatment, meals, appointments, medications and lodging for those six weeks, but anything above this goal will be most helpful in covering additional medical costs and unforeseen expenses related to her recovery. We are hopeful that the stem cell transplant will be her ticket to recovery so she can have many more years with her family and friends.
If you know Ljubica, you know she has touched so many people in her life and the amount of love she gives is endless. She's an amazing and dedicated mother and wife to Maggie and Karl. With your help she will be able to watch her daughter graduate from college and grow old with her husband. We are so thankful for all the love and support everyone has given us thus far.
