Thank you Black Rock neighbors for suggesting a GoFundMe to cover veterinary/care expenses for this little girl.
What we know about Layla (what I'm calling her): She is is almost 50% underweight. She has had many litters of puppies. The last litter weaned just 2 weeks ago. She was found wandering the street in the bitter cold and was grateful to be taken in.
What she is is neglected.
I do not know what her medical expenses will be yet. What the vet has said is she needs to be sedated and have her nails cut. She has trouble walking because they are very long- and because of her breed and the fact that she's never had them done, the vet will not do it without being under. She also needs to be spayed. She is on 3 medications, administered twice a day. She's got a wonderful spirit is and is a sweet dog. Not an ounce of aggression in her, she seems to be very grateful to be warm and comfortable.
Any donations that remain after her care expenses will be donated to a "Lalya fund" at the Black Rock Animal Hospital, which will be used for future emergencies like this. This vet treated her at a lower cost today because of her need.
