Hi I’m Lizzy (some of you know me as Michelle). I have Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Metastatic means that my cancer has spread to other parts of the body. Right now I have many tumors in my liver. Stage IV cancer has no cure yet, so getting in and staying in remission as long as possible is the goal.
I am asking for help because even though I have Medicare and am on disability I still have almost 7,000 a year in out of pocket medical costs AND I have a cap on my income to keep my disability benefits. It’s very frustrating. So far I have still been able to work part time, but I CAN’T MAKE NEAR ENOUGH to cover my medical bills and costs of living due to the limitations from treatment and the cap on my income.
My cancer journey began in Nov 2016 when i was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. I did all the things (very difficult chemo, the big surgery, radiation, some revision surgeries, biological drug infusions through the end of last year). I was cancer free for a little while but I found out in April of 2018 that it had come back in my liver. I just finished up more chemo and unfortunately it did not work, so we are on to plan B.
As I already mentioned, Stage IV cancer is *currently* incurable. I don’t know how long I have, but the good news is people are living longer than ever before with metastatic cancer AND I’m also hoping maybe a new discovery will be made before I run out of options. <3
Thanks for reading. And please, if you can’t give, will you please share this?
Love, Lizzy ❤️
