Liz Nygard, Wife and a mother had her life changed by a Benign Brain Tumor snaking behind her eyes and choking her Optic Nerves. Driving home late on an Illinois Highway, being blinded by a Semi, Liz’s eyes felt pressure and her world went dark for 15 seconds. This event had brought so many MRI’s and CAT Scans, too many Doctors Appointments to keep track of. Surgery was needed as she was losing her sight. Liz awoke from her 1st of 3 Brain Surgeries blind in her left eye and low vision in her right eye. She had resided in the ICU for 40 days in total after her surgeries. It was very heartbreaking seeing my mom in such a vulnerable condition. Over a year since the last surgery, she has made a lot more progress than we imagined. Her vision on her right eye is still in shadows, but is improving little by little. Her left eye is a different story. As my mom says, "Still blind”.
As the Roller Coaster of Life changes, she is holding on. Liz is full of Perseverance and Angel’s love. My mom is always kind and helpful with a smile. Liz is still smiling, even though she has had a rough journey. My mom still looks to the future with hope and believes she will get the help she needs.
Liz is Looking to the future, Liz is investing in a MyEye Orocam 2. This device will give Liz the freedom and Independence she needs to work. The MyEye Orocam 2 reads for the Vision Impared, will access facial recognition, color identification, ID money notes, and can be a Barcode Scanner. The original price of the MyEye Orocam 2 would be $4,681, and there was a sale at Lighthouse for the Blind at $1000 off. We had made a deposit for $800. This would lead us to $2,881 for the rest of the price. We do have it on Layaway. This tool is life changing and will help Liz enter the work force with confidence. My mom will appreciate any donation shared. All money will be used to better Liz’s vision.
Liz always knew life was about to change, but this was an exceedingly challenging journey. She is healing, but she will need the My Eye Orocam 2 to spread her wings and fly. Through your acts of kindness and generosity, my mom will be able to have a bright future in the working world and beyond. Let’s help take my Mom out of the darkness and help her keep moving forward.
Here is my mom rocking the high to fashion Cocoon glasses with her 2 kittens pictured, Prudence and Glinda.
