LIZ's EMERGENCY SPINAL SURGERY

Donation protected
My name is Carrie and I am setting this up for my amazing friend, Liz. I woke up, checked Facebook to say good morning as I usually do when I came across my dear friends post. I was shocked and very upset to find she had been in a life changing car accident. This is what Happened in her own words. How she was able to write this in such incredible pain is beyond me but here it is.

Liz:
It's 12:39 am and I am in the most intense pain I have ever been in.

9 am this morning I was driving down trimmer road on my way to a job interview. A very promising job interview. I missed it.

It was foggy and wet out and Trimmer rd has an S like part of the road.

As i was slowing down from 40 a deer ran out. I over corrected 3 times until I finally slammed into a ditch. I missed the deer.

I couldn't find my phone. I was in such intense pain and could not feel anything below the waist. I also uncontrollably wet my pants.

After sitting alone for 5 minutes SCREAMING in pain someone finally stopped.

The ambulance and firemen showed up. It was such a deep ditch that the firemen almost had to dig me out to open the door.

They did get it open and as much as I hated them and screamed at them in pain as they tugged me safely this way and that to get me out, I love them too for the very same reasons.

I was rushed to unity and had the worst experience of my life. I sat in soiled pants for 9 hours because I was in too much pain to move. 6 doses of morphine later, 2 of them double doses and 2 doses of fetanyl later, I was able to get cleaned up.

All day of being told of a surgeon from RGH coming to do an emergency surgery.

My T12 is absolutely crushed and my T11 is not far behind. I have a HUGE hematoma on my left side pushing against my spine. After a load of miscommunication the surgeon from RGH came to me. Pissed off has nothing on how this surgeon was. I was supposed to head to RGH hours ago. Instead I was stored away in the hallway at unity with a broken back screaming in pain so bad that the guy next to me complained about me.
It was actually this surgeon who demanded a private room and cleaned me up. He was completely appalled.

They safely transported me to RGH with the most compassionate ambulance drivers i have ever met. The driver would warn of bumps and the lady in the back would cover me with her body so I didn't shift.

I am comfortable and because of that, the surgeon wanted to be fresh for my 4-6 hour surgery I will have in the morning putting rods and screws in my back.

Not only have I taken a physical hit. I've taken an emotional one too.

Between Scott, Anna and Danny I have been loved and spoiled and supported. Yet, I am so scared and so lonely in this exact moment.

I need candles lit and/or prayers not just for physical strength and healing but for emotional as well.

I'm not doing so good.
