Help Liza get a heart and liver transplant
Donation protected
5/14/24 Update:
Liza has been admitted at Shands hospital in Gainesville, and they are bumping her to the top of the list for a heart and liver. We are here until they find a perfect match for her heart/liver, and are praying it’s soon.
I’m fundraising for a heart and liver transplant for my sister, Liza Robbins.
Liza has spent the last four months being evaluated at our local hospital, the Orlando Advent Transplant Center. Unfortunately, her case was too complex, and she was transferred to Shands Hospital in Gainesville this week. Shands Transplant Center does the an average of 4 heart/liver transplants each year, which is a significant number, since it’s such rare surgery. There are no other treatments for Liza. In order to live, she has to have this double organ transplant.
Unfortunately, the move to Shands, while needed medically, has proven to be very expensive. Since it is so far from home, we are having to pay for lodging, in addition to the medical premiums, copays and more.
Liza has autism and receives a small amount each month from social security disability, but it doesn’t come close to covering the expense of additional housing for 6 to 12 months.
Any amount you can donate is appreciated. Liza has worked so hard her entire life to be as independent as possible. It’s a humbling experience for all of us to ask for help. But saving Liza’s life is worth me being uncomfortable. Thank you so much for your support.
