Full disclosure: this is an update of an original fundraiser for a vehicle, and I used 2,200.00 to successfully rent a car and drive cross country to return to my partner after 10 weeks of separation.
I’ve been accepted into the Genetics and Biotechnology program at University of New Haven, and my grants and loans only cover so much, leaving a gap of about 10,500.00 for the year.
The remainder of donations would go towards securing a vehicle for the commute to campus.
Personal loans are out of the question due to my reliance on credit cards during the pandemic and my subsequent bad credit and unemployment.
I was struggling to put my hardships into words, so my friend Lauren summed it up for me well:
“Support Liz: Finding Stability After Years of Hardship
Hi, friends. Liz here—reaching out with vulnerability and a big ask. Life has thrown some serious challenges my way since 2017, and I’m now turning to this community for support as I try to get back on my feet.
Over the past few years, I’ve faced wave after wave of hardship: caregiving for loved ones with dementia, enduring trauma and loss, cross-country moves, navigating health challenges, and grappling with joblessness. It’s been a lot. The financial toll, combined with the emotional weight, has left me needing help to cover basic necessities like groceries and essentials while I work toward stability.
My ultimate goal is to reunite with Aaron and secure work to rebuild my life, but in the meantime, I’m humbly asking for support. Your generosity will not only help me stay afloat but will also give me the chance to pay it forward to those who have supported me in the past.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for any help you can offer—whether it’s a donation, spreading the word, or simply sending love and encouragement.
With gratitude,
Liz”
