Liz has helped us all - now it's our turn

Movements are powered by all of the people behind the scenes who work year in and year out to build strength in communities and create a better world for others.

Liz Wood is one of those generous and caring people who has worked on social issues her entire life. She has changed people's lives through her
support work for AIDS sufferers in Toronto in the 80's with Buddies in Bad Times, and her work in the 90s with abuse survivors and people living in poverty.

Liz has also organized, managed and volunteered for NDP elected officials across Canada for years, always stepping up to help and taking time from her own life to campaign whenever the call comes.

And she’s advocated for others to have access to job protections, health care and benefits throughout her career. But now she finds herself without those protections.

Liz was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. And this form of cancer has no cure.

Canada’s Employment Insurance (EI) Sickness Benefit needs to be extended for people undergoing cancer treatment - and right now Liz doesn’t have more than a couple of weeks of coverage left.

We don’t want to see our dedicated friend have to return to work at a time when she should be home being adored and supported.

Please give what you can to our sister who has given so much of her career to fighting for positive change for others.

Thanks for your solidarity and support.

With great appreciation,

Michele Girash, Nikki Hill and all of Liz's many friends
