Liz and Howard Kakegamic- House Fire
My name is Serena Kenny. Liz and
Howard Kakegamic are the parents of
my partner Shayne Kakegamic and
grandparents to our children.
Liz and Howard’s house caught on fire in the early morning of June 11th, 2020 in
their community of Muskrat Dam.
The family is relieved they were able to make it out of the home. However they
suffered injuries and were sent to the
Health Science Centre in Winnipeg,
Manitoba. Unfortunately their home and all their belongings were lost in the fire.
With the permission of their children
Emily, Knowlton, Sean, Michelle and
Shayne, I have created this page to raise some money to help the family.
Liz and Howard will both require a long
stay in the hospital. Due to Covid
restrictions everywhere it has made
visiting impossible for almost all of the
family. Only Shayne and Michelle have
been in to visit with their parents.
Howard sustained 3rd degree burns. He required a 6 1/2 hour surgery with the
plastics team to get skin graphs. He is
currently stable in the ICU on minimal
life support.
Liz sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She is being monitored in the hospital.
The plastics team is monitoring her closely as she may require surgery as well.
Both Howard and Liz will require
rehabilitation and physiotherapy in the
hospital.
Liz and Howard are some of the most
caring people I know. They have a large
family with 5 children, many
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They are very respected members of their community.
We ask for your continued prayers for
Liz and Howard, their children and grandchildren.
We would also like to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers and support.

nurses who were in Muskrat Dam the
morning of the fire.
