Livingstone Fire Station, Zambia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alfie Lifuti and I'm a serving firefighter with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
I’m raising money to send much needed Personal Protective Equipment, fire resistant Leggings and fire Tunics to Zambia, Southern Africa.
My aim is to raise £1000 to cover shipping costs needed to transport 2 pallets of 100 sets of fire kit from the UK to Zambia.
I grew up in Livingstone, Zambia until the early 90's when I moved to the UK to study at The University of Birmingham. My mum and wider family still live in Zambia and I recently visited this year. After visiting the local fire station I realised among other things that they were in desperate need of some better quality PPE. As an operational Fire Fighter in Staffordshire myself, the service were updating their own PPE Fire Kit, this gave me the opportunity to find some better use from our decommissioned fire kit.
I am aware of the need for good personal protective equipment of which we are fortunate to receive in the UK. However this is not the same for all Fire Fighters across the world, Livingstone fire brigade have over 70 firefighters working within the city. The 100 sets of fire kit have many more years of good use in them.
I am aiming to raise this money to ship off two pallets, which will be sent to Livingstone Fire Station in Zambia.
This Fire Kit will not only improve the way they can deal with incidents but to also improve the safety of the men and women that serve the community of Livingstone on a day to day basis.
Hopefully with your help we can achieve the transport costs and give this fire kit a new lease of life.
Thanks
Alfie
