My friend with schizophrenia needs running water!

Dear friends, if you want to help someone in need this holiday season, I know someone here in Melbourne FL named "Angelina" who is battling schizophrenia and has not had running water in her home for over 3 years. Yes, 3 YEARS NO WATER!  It was previously unimaginable what someone would have to go through without running water, but I saw it with my own eyes and it breaks my heart. Despite her strong survival skills, no one should have to endure the methods she has become comfortable with to cook and bathe daily without running water. I really want to help her.  

Angelina is a kind, loving soul, so much that she would never want to "inconvenience" someone by asking for help. But I'm afraid her living conditions could deteriate even faster if she doesn't get help soon, even so much that City of Melbourne recently notified her to get it fixed ASAP or she will be forced to move out of her own home until done so. That would be devastating, mentally and financially, and situations like this often start a path towards homelessness for people with schizophrenia.

In 2019 Angelina had a water leak and the water bill was so big that she was unable to pay it with her fixed income. Unfortunately she is unable to maintain regular employment due to her mental illness.  

The city of Melbourne was able to send me her account history report which verifies that $1,500 in charges over 3 months went unpaid after March 2019. Previous to that her account was in good standing and she was consistently making payments on typical water bills between $75 and $100.

I was also able to get a copy of the current water bill for Nov 2022. Late fees and sewer fees have accrued and City of Melbourne will not turn on the water until a balance of $3300+ is paid in full.  

Please consider helping Angelina with a donation to the GoFundMe page I setup. I will use the funds to first pay the water bill and then any remaining funds will be used to pay a plumber to fix any leaks.

For the record, I have also reached out to organizations offering financial assistance on the City of Melbourne water billing website. Between waiting for phone calls back and submitting documentation, I have not received any funds yet. If I do I will adjust the total amount needed on this GoFundMe page.
