Living with a Spinal Cord Injury in Uganda-help Ronnie

Donation protected
Ronnie suffered a spinal cord injury while on duty at work; he was working for a humanitarian aid organisation, and on his way back from a refugee settlement where he was advising on gender based violence, he tragically crashed his motorbike. He is now dependant on two carers for daily tasks, can’t walk, can’t use his arms, and his bladder and bowel don’t function normally. He is unable to work and is facing rising costs; he needs to keep providing for his children, whose Mother left them after Ronnie was injured.

I am fundraising for Ronnie to have the help he needs to live with a devastating neurological condition, in a country where you have to pay for every medical intervention. I met him while volunteering as a physiotherapist in his home town, and saw the dedication he has to improving his condition, while trying to support his two children and his Mother. His Father died when he was 13 and he has supported his whole family ever since then; it’s his turn to be supported now.

Any funds kindly donated will be used to go towards:
1) His children’s school fees ($550 USD per term)
2) His carer costs ($132 USD per month)
3) Physiotherapy
4) If enough money can be raised, he has been referred to Narayana Health Hospital in India to receive evaluation and treatment from specialists. He experienced many delays in his care following his injury due to the poor medical care in rural Uganda, and therefore likely missed out on essential treatment and therapy. This would be his chance to see what else can be done. Costs include travel for him and his 2 caregivers ($2223), visa’s ($240), evaluation inc scans ($400-$600), as well as treatment costs (estimation given of $5000-$6000)
5) If possible, a car; Ronnie is very susceptible to various medical issues due to his condition and has to take regular trips to hospital. Without a car he has to use expensive taxis which adds yet more costs

Thank you so much in advance for any donations, it will be so appreciated!!
