Help little Levea to live!
Life is a storm, and when things get too difficult to bear - support matters!
Meet the young and incredibly warm family of five - little Levea, Cerena, Onóra and her parents, Brian and Cassie.
On August 16th, little Levea Sage was born. Cassie later described her birth as a truly magical moment. She was lifted (Levea = to lift/ rise) into this world like a sage.
Surrounded by love and care, little Levea started thriving. Then, in mid-September, she suddenly showed difficulties breathing and eventually needed an emergency open heart operation in Berlin to correct TAPVD (or TAPVR, Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return/Drainage; or Cor Triatriatum).
A long, uncertain, painful time started as complications returned. As of last week, a CT scan shows what is most likely a rare condition called Pulmonary Vein Stenosis that requires urgent and aggressive treatment, which her current doctors are admittedly not prepared to execute.
They seek to redirect her care out of Berlin and to expert Pulmonary Vein Stenosis pediatric teams in the U.S. (likely Boston Children's Hospital or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia). Unfortunately, Brian and Cassie's insurance only covers care in Germany, where they currently live. Given the urgency of her condition, we anticipate that securing proper insurance coverage in the U.S. will only delay the immediate care she needs.
We urgently need help to provide the means necessary to help cover her medical costs. So it's with immense gratitude and hope that we will get through this and get Levea the care she needs to survive her condition.
