Living in My Car, Desperate for Safety & Stability—PS DONATE

Donation protected
To people who believe in helping others,

I never thought I’d have to write something like this. For the past year, I’ve been homeless for a year, surviving out of my car, and the truth is… I haven’t felt safe or like I truly belong anywhere in a long time. And I’m telling you this because I’m fighting to get back on my feet while I’m still here.

Every day tests me—sleeping in a car that turns into an icebox at night and an oven by day, breathing stifling air, hoping to find even a delicious and nutritious hot meal, or refreshing cold water and driving from spot to spot just trying to feel safe for a few hours.

Right now, I need a safe environment—somewhere I can build steady routines, work during calmer hours, and finally feel secure. I’m trying desperately to save myself, but I’m living with disabilities that make everyday life overwhelming— claustrophobia that clenches my throat & chest, hyper sensitivity to smells & sounds that keep me mad, social and performance anxiety at its worst, and trauma from the past 3 years of being exploited, yelled at, bullied, and mistreated.

I’m fighting to regain stability, but every day feels like a struggle. My part-time job teaching dance at the YMCA gives me a sense of purpose and structure, yet I can’t fully do my job because classes are often canceled when students don’t show up. It’s frustrating to prepare, show up, and then not be able to teach at all. On top of that, the inconsistent work means I can’t earn enough to cover even my basic needs. I’ve applied for overnight jobs in gyms and trucking, and though nothing has come through yet, I refuse to give up on rebuilding my life.

I’M ASKING FOR YOUR HELP!

The amounts you donate makes a real big difference in my daily life!
Here are the essential bills your support helps me cover:

$400 — Food, clothing & essentials not covered by CalFresh
(PSA: 95% of the food from churches & non profits are expired or barely edible, and most of it is unhealthy snacks with almost no ready-to-eat proteins. For someone living without a kitchen, it’s nearly useless. And Clothes donations aren’t always new or washed, either.)

$300 — Gas
$113 — Verizon
$108 — Storage
$84 — NASM education
$134 — UFC Gym membership (showers + safe place to be & self defense classes)
$150 — Car insurance (with this I can get more than basic coverage)
$35 — Car wash (necessary for sanitation—my car is my home)
$33 — PO Box
$40 - Laundry 1x/week

$500+ — Savings toward purchasing an RV/Trailer

My goal is to start raising $13,000 for close to six months worth of bills, food, and essentials, and the other half—$5,000 towards an RV/Truck & Trailer, insurance, and parking. Ideally, the most generous support would be enough to double my goal, because my ultimate dream is to buy and own a tiny home—an upgraded, permanent version of an RV or trailer that I can truly call home and also have potential to make income from airbnb.

My previous living situation became unsafe, and I finally had to leave after experiencing physical domestic abuse. Since then, I’ve often faced harassment from others, which constantly forces me to relive the trauma of my past.
I wish I had been able to work more steadily and save myself before things spiraled, but right now, stability and safety are what I need to heal and rebuild.

My focus right now—is to buy an RV or trailer I can finally live in.
A space where I can stand up, shower, cook real meals, sleep safely, dance, and practice yoga. I know it comes with insurance and maintenance, but it would give me dignity and stability. Overnight parking can be tough, but many state parks offer day parking, and it would allow me to live with more structure and safety.

If anyone knows someone selling or donating a used RV trailer, please consider helping me move out of my car.
Here are a few good options to compare (Class C RV preferred — unless trailer comes with a truck to tow):

Facebook Marketplace —
$3,500 RV (private seller - good condition & drives)

RV Camping World —
$18,499 (retail price - Dealership like new condition)

California Explorer Pass —
$195 for annual day-use parking for RV/Trailer

RV Insurance Estimate (Good Sam) —
$300+ for 12 months (full time coverage preferably)

I’m trying to build a life I can finally grow in—not just scrape by in. I’m fighting to save my life while I’m still here to live it.

Your support would give me the stability I need to rebuild my life and finally move toward something safe and positive. Anything you’re able to give brings me closer to living safely again and reclaiming my future.

Your kindness, your donations, even sharing this page, genuinely helps me take the next step toward stability.

Thank you for seeing me, supporting me, and helping me work toward a safe home.

With gratitude,
Rochelle
