My 18 year partner, Joost, is in the final days of an incredibly brave battle with a rare and aggressive cancer called Merkel Cell Carcinoma. After fighting with everything he had, we have reached the heartbreaking stage where we are preparing to say goodbye.

Joost was never defined by his illness. He was a devoted Ski Patroller and lived for the ski hill – the early mornings on fresh snow, helping others stay safe, and sharing his love of winter with everyone around him.
