Hello friends and family! Our names are Sandra Grant-Sloan and Karen Smith, and we appreciate you taking the time to read this. On Thursday morning (Feb. 8), Carrie and Ronald Skelton received a call no parent wants to get. Their precious daughter, Jalessa Skelton, was in a horrific car accident resulting in extensive physical damage.
We are so incredibly thankful to the Lord that Jalessa is alive, but she has a long road ahead. Over the next several months, she will need to undergo around five additional surgeries. Between the medical expenses and accommodations necessary for her parents to be with her and support her as she recovers, this recovery will be undoubtedly expensive but worth every cent.
I believe that we are going to see the Lord move mightily in Jalessa’s life, and she will be totally healed. That said, we are asking you, the community, who has watched her grow, the family who has seen her thrive, and the friends who know what a gem she is, to please help support her road to recovery.
If you know Jalessa, you know what a treasure it is to call her friend. If you don’t know her, let us tell you a few things. Like her mother, Carrie, she is especially generous, witty, kind, and determined. She is an award-winning educator in South Carolina, with an emphasis in special education. She has made a difference in the lives of so many children. We want to see her back in the classroom and shaping the lives of her students and back at her best.
While this is something we wish she never had to endure, we know that she is a fighter. She has a rallying community around her and one of the best families one could have. There’s a quote that says, “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” Please help us help her as she goes through this ordeal.
Every dollar matters. Thank you so much for your support and may God bless each of you mightily!
