Living expenses for Daniel Pate

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brittany and this is my father Daniel. On June 3rd he was involved in an accident which caused him to fall between 40-50 feet from a tower that he was working on. Although our family does not yet know the specifics of the reasoning behind the fall, we are 100% positive it wasn't his fault. My father has always been a responsible and safety oriented person which brings many questions as to why this has happened . The day of the accident he was life flighted to the University Hospital of San Antonio,Texas as this is the hospital that was closest to the area in which the fall took place. Both my parents and I and my children were living in Nashville, TN which is roughly 1,000 miles difference between the two locations before the accident happened.  My children, my brother and my mother (Daniel's wife) have all temporarily moved down to Texas to be there for Daniel both physically and emotionally. The fall has caused him to have several broken and fractured bones as well as other serious medical problems. As of what we know so far, the doctors have informed the family that he has a spinal cord injury that was from his back being broken in 2 places, his ribs have been broken on both sides, a broken sternum, broken pelvis, left femur bone has been broken, dislocated his patella, shattered both of his ankles, punctured lung, and tore his aorta in his heart. The day after the accident the doctors decided to operate on his broken spine so that there could be a slight chance of him not being paralyzed but the complications came immediately afterwards. My father flatlined during his very first surgery due to his punctured lung. They were able to revive him but they decided that life support would be the best option for the time being due to the trauma that he had endured from both the accident and surgery. The first few days were traumatic for the family as the doctors mentioned possible brain damage could have been a result from the lack of oxygen during that time. Once he had woken up from surgery and he started to respond to questions from the nurses they were able to rule out the there was any brain damage. After 3 weeks went by and more surgeries were performed god blessed us all with Daniel being able to breathe on his own.  The doctors decided to take My father off of life support after about 3 weeks.   He had tests ran and doctors decided that he was able to finally breathe on his own completely and has done great so far. As of where we stand today, Daniel still has a long road of recovery ahead of him but to even be alive today is such a blessing within itself.  Despite everything he has faught to overcome, the doctors have still declared him as paralyzed from the waist down and have amputated a portion of one of his legs due to the shattered bone being irreparable. With these life changing disabilities, my parents are unsure of how life will be once my father is released from the hospital/rehabilitation. Life has been forever changed for the both of them and the uncertainty of future finances has been an incredible strain. We are asking for  donations to purchase a handicapped accessible vehicle and to cover any other expenses as they may arrive in the near future. Daniel is working with workmans compensation but as most people know this only covers a fraction of his wages and finances are very limited during this time. Also, due to the covid-19 restrictions, family are not able to visit him at the hospital during his recovery and we honestly are unsure of when the visitation restrictions will be lifted. At this time being in the hospital alone and recovering from a life changing injury has got to be mentally and emotionally challenging so If anyone would like to send any well wishes to Daniel please due so to Daniel Pate at care of University Hospital of San Antonio, Tx on medical drive. Any donations are very much appreciated and we thank everyone very much. Please keep my family in your prayers.❤ God bless everyone!!
