Living a life of Mission - Jocelyn

I was first called to missions when I was 9 years old. I distinctly remember sitting at a concert watching a Compassion International commercial and thinking to myself how strange and terrifying it was that people would go live in 3rd world nations. How could they sacrifice the comfortable lives they had in the States to risk it all, opening their lives up to possible death or imprisonment just to tell the gospel. It was at that moment that I first recall hearing the Lord’s voice speak directly to me. I heard His still small voice in my consciousness whisper, “That is going to be you someday.” My heart flooded with anxious excitement. I was afraid, but I was certain that what I had heard would come to pass.
In later years I forgot God’s calling. After some dark times in middle school, God met me where I was at and I truly fell in love and awe with who He is and completely gave myself over to Him. My life was completely His. I wanted to do or go wherever He asked, I wanted to know Him deeper than I ever thought possible, and I wanted to be more like Him.
Two years later, God unexpectedly sent me on my first mission trip with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) Mission Adventures. On that trip, 7 years after my initial calling, God spoke into my heart once more, reminding me of my call to missions and to place my full faith in His power. It was clear throughout those 10 days that God specifically wanted me to begin my missions journey overseas immediately after graduating high school, rather than going to college (which was equally as unexpected, I love being a student and highly value academics). He was so real in His leading I had peace about a complete change to my life. Though I was nervous, I was overjoyed at His leading.
God has kept His promise to me. He has laid the call of missions on my life, confirmed it, and helped me grow personally, spiritually and in ministry in preparation for missions. A week after graduation, I will be serving in Cascade, Idaho as staff at YWAM Mission Adventures (where I received my calling, fell in love with Jesus and missions, and encountered God!!)
Then, in September, I will be leaving for YWAM Amsterdam, where I will spend 6 months doing a Discipleship Training School (3 months of training and learning in Amsterdam, 3 months in a 3rd world country doing outreach). That is as far as God has led me in this journey. God is teaching me to rely on Him and His guidance, and He will give me the next step when it’s time. tIt is my earnest desire to go anywhere and everywhere until the day He tells me to stop.
So, I am inviting you to join me on this adventure! There are two specific ways you can have a direct impact:
1) Pray! Please be praying for each step as I lead in missions this summer and leave the country in September! I would love to keep in touch and let you know what God is doing and how to pray. If you would like to join my monthly newsletter I would love to send it to you.
2) My expenses for this first part of my mission adventure is $10,000. This includes, flights, room and board, emergency funding, and living costs. Please prayerfully consider being a financial partner! Whether $100, $1000, or $5,000, every gift is so appreciated and supports the Great Commission.
I am so thankful that I get to do this as a team. Yes, there’s the YWAM team, but just as important is you – the prayer and funding team. Funding God’s mission is just as vital as being the “missionary!”
