Livia's next step
Don protégé
Hi, I am Miss Crockett, a primary school teacher in Seaton, reaching out for support for one of my students - Livia. Having watched her grow up at our school, I can see the daily struggles for her to remain independent and it is imperative we act now to help her.
Livia is a vibrant, loving, and determined young 9 year old from Seaton with cerebral palsy (CP). From the moment she was born, Livia has faced more challenges than most of us can only imagine, but she greets each day with a cheeky smile and a strength that inspires everyone around her. CP affects her muscle control and mobility, but it hasn’t diminished her incredible spirit. Every step for Livia is a triumph, and every new milestone is a testament to her courage and resilience.
Our goal is simple: to give her the tools she needs to live as independently as possible. CP presents ongoing challenges, and while Livia works hard every day to overcome them, there are essential resources she is in desperate need of. These are not just conveniences. They are life-changing necessities that will help her break through physical and social barriers. One of these is a motorised wheelchair. Without this, she is tied to an adult, not to mention in a chair that is not fit for her needs and causes her discomfort and embarrassment.
She has no choice. She cannot propel herself in her current manual chair and this means she is reliant on adults. As a result, she often chooses not to use her chair, which in turn, means she exhausts herself and cannot keep up with her friends. This is only going to become more problematic as she enters secondary school in the near future.
Imagine the joy of watching her move more freely, navigate daily tasks with confidence, and explore her surroundings with the curiosity and wonder every child deserves. That is the future we envision for Livia. But to make it happen, we need your help. Your generosity will give her the chance to live a fuller, more independent life both in and out of school.
A future-proof, life-changing, motorised wheelchair is going to cost £13,000. This is money that the NHS cannot provide currently so we must think more creatively. The children in Livia's class will be organising some fundraisers and any money collected will be put towards the goal on this page.
Many thanks for your support and please contact Seaton Primary School if you are able to help in any other way!
