Hi I’m Mae. Me and my sister Eve are running the AJ Bell Great Manchester 10k for Liverpool Women’s NICU unit, a place that has become so important to my family, on 31st May 2026

Back in December, my sister Amy was taken into hospital, and on the 8th January, my nephew Max was born at just 25 weeks, weighing only 970 grams.

From that moment on, the team at Liverpool Women’s have been nothing short of incredible. The level of care, attention, and dedication they show every single day is something you don’t truly understand unless you experience it.

They haven’t just cared for Max, they’ve supported my whole family, especially my sister, who has spent every minute possible by his bedside. Through every high and low, they’ve been there, constantly reassuring her, keeping her updated, and showing so much compassion. He’s now 36 weeks, still in hospital, but stronger everyday. We are so grateful for the care he’s given 24/7.

It’s more than just medical care, it’s the emotional support, the patience, and the kindness that make such a difference during such a difficult time.

So this run is for them.

For the nurses, doctors, and staff who give everything they can.

For all the other families going through the same journey.

And most importantly, for Max - the strongest little boy
