Hello, this page has been created for my dear Mother-In-Love, Lori Ruiz Arriola of Grand Island, Nebraska. Lori just completed her THIRD Liver Transplant in Omaha, Nebraska.

Our Mother, Lori went in for a routine procedure for her failing liver on December 29th in Omaha that should have only required a one night stay and then she’d be on her way home the following day. Unfortunately things did not go as planned and she quickly had trouble with her sugar, liver, kidney and BP levels. Mother was already on the Liver Transplant List so her declining health moved her up the list in a matter of hours.

We got the call we were hoping for on January 2nd, they found a liver for Mother. ☺️ She had two more surgeries over the following three days for the transplant. She did wonderful throughout it all and is currently recovering in the hospital in Omaha.

Where do you come in?

Once she completes her stay at the hospital (approx. two weeks), she will be relocating (approx. two months) to Omaha to be near her Doctors. Unlike her past two Liver Transplants, this time around she has to find alternative lodging for her and her caregivers. Her amazing daughter and sister will devote their time to provide 24/7 care during this time. They will be alternating for the duration, and going back to their homes in between. The commute is 4-5hrs round trip. They were also alongside Mother during her previous Transplants and have been with her during this time as they were able.

As a family we are hoping through your generosity we can take the financial burden off for the lodging and fuel costs. The lodging alone will cost approximately $3,500. We are hoping to reach a goal of $5,500 to cover these expenses. Mother is on a fixed income and was planning to use her craftiness to help raise funds in the coming months, but due to unforeseen health complications following her procedure in December she is unable to do any fundraising of her own.

Mother stands firm in her faith and is giving it all to God; her recovery, her finances, and her future. We are trusting in God to provide as He has continuously done through this entire journey. We are grateful for her amazing medical team, and are ready to help her through her recovery. We are all very grateful for her donor and praying for their family as they grieve. None of this would be possible without them! ❤️‍
