Our Story
We are Joshua Hill’s family and closest friends. I’m Brian, along with Josh’s son Isaiah, his mother Ginger, his father Jesse. and his brother. Standing along side of us is a circle of good friends who are more like extended family — Louie, Tommy, Shell, Livia, Carol, Andrew, Jesse, Patti-Lee and Patricia. Together, we are standing shoulder to shoulder with Josh as he fights the hardest battle of his life.
Joshua is only 44 years old, full of love for his son Isaiah, his friends and full of life that deserves to be lived. Right now, he is in the transplant critical care ICU, waiting and fighting for the chance to receive a liver transplant. These past weeks have been a rollercoaster, moments of crisis, fragile improvements, and glimmers of hope. Through it all, Josh has shown extraordinary courage, but this journey has brought with it an overwhelming financial burden that we simply cannot carry alone.
Why We Need Help
Josh’s transplant care doesn’t just involve the surgery itself. It’s required months of preparation, strict eligibility requirements, and incredible support from family and friends. Josh has met these challenges with everything he has, but the costs of making it to transplant have been staggering.
So far, our family has done everything we can, from selling personal items, pooling savings, and sacrificing wherever possible. Together, we’ve raised about $27,000 toward Josh’s transplant-related expenses. But we are still about $32,000 short of what’s needed to get him through the process, and time is running short.
What the Funds Will Be Used For
Insurance Costs: Josh’s new health insurance plan (he didn’t have insurance when this started) required in order to even be listed for transplant comes with extremely high monthly premiums. Without this coverage, he cannot move forward.
Medical Co-Pays: Between out-of-network specialists, in-network hospital stays, and the long list of procedures he has already endured, the co-pays and share of costs are already in the tens of thousands and continue to climb each week.
Family Support Costs: The transplant center requires that Josh have an active, present support system to even be eligible for transplant. That means his family and closest friends must remain nearby, (even though we live hundreds of miles from the transplant center) ready to step in for care and advocacy. Although we rotate shifts, it still means significant travel, temporary housing, food, and countless small expenses. This presence is not really optional for Josh to be listed, and it ensures he is never alone in this battle.
Every contribution, whether big or small, lifts a piece of this heavy burden. It allows us to focus on what matters most: giving Josh the best chance at receiving a transplant and living many more years with his son Isaiah and all of us who love him.
From our family to yours, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting Josh during this critical time. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers are carrying us forward one day at a time.
