For those of you who don't know, this is Monica. She is a mother, a sister, a wife, an aunt, a "TaTa", a "Nana", and a friend. For those of you who do know Monica, you already know how amazing she is and why we all love her - and probably have quite a few entertaining stories to tell from "back in the day".
A couple of weeks ago, Monica fell ill quite suddenly. After a visit to the ER and finding out her sodium levels were dangerously low, she was transferred to the hospital. After multiple tests and scans, the hospital discovered an issue with her liver.
She was transferred again and is now under the care of multiple doctors and specialists in Houston who have determined that a liver transplant is urgently needed.
Unfortunately, she is not insured and the cost of the transplant is astronomical. Due to her being uninsured, the hospital requires an initial deposit of $30,000 to move forward with treatment. This will allow the hospital to perform its evaluation and get her on a donor list as soon as possible.
Time is of the essence in this situation and we are not sure how much of it she has. The sooner we can get her evaluated and matched with a donor the sooner she can get the transplant, begin recovery, and get back to her family and friends who love and miss her beyond words.
We understand that times may be difficult due to the current situation with COVID but any amount you could donate puts us that much closer to getting our TaTa, Nana, and friend back home.
