On January 30, 2021 our Mother Lucy DeCasas passed away. For us; her children, grandchildren, family and friends it was too soon.
Our mom tested positive for Covid-19 in December. When she started having trouble breathing she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital in the early morning hours of December 23, 2020. She was given medications for Covid, pneumonia and breathing treatments. After twelve days of breathing treatments, our mom needed to be intubated. Over the next three weeks she remained in the ICU in an induced coma and on a ventilator.
During this time she fought, we know this. Her lungs were very badly damaged yet she continued to show us strength in her own way.
My siblings and I were able to see our Mother in the hospital on January 26th, while she was intubated. That night we stood close to each other and said many “I love you’s” through her window and believed she would come through this.

Her heart stayed strong to the end until it could not. Our Mother was unable to recover from pneumonia and passed away on January 30, 2021.

The outpouring of Love, support, prayers, reaching out and care from so many, is one that I have never seen before and we are so very grateful for.
We are praying for comfort, healing and strength through this very difficult time. We are all hurting deeply without our Mother, but we know this is NOT goodbye. Her Strength resides in us and Her love continues on in each of us.
We are hoping to keep her home going as long as possible for the family that still lives there.
